Vokk vs. Aqua Voice: how much help do you want with your words?

Adam, maker of Vokk · September 24, 2026

I used Aqua Voice after Wispr Flow. Eventually I built Vokk because I wanted a simpler, less expensive way to talk into my Mac.

Both apps let you use your voice where you would otherwise type. What interests me is what happens between speaking and seeing the text.

Transcription, with editing left to you

Vokk’s job is to transcribe what you say and insert the text into the app you’re using. It doesn’t add a separate AI rewriting pass.

I mostly use it to talk to coding assistants. Sometimes my instructions are messy because I’m working out the problem as I speak. I’d rather review that transcript myself than have another writing tool decide how to tidy it.

Speech recognition can make mistakes. I still check names, numbers, and instructions before sending them.

What Aqua Voice offers

Aqua Voice advertises grammar refinement, context-sensitive formatting, custom instructions, and a custom dictionary. It also lists a realtime mode on its Max plan. Those features may be valuable if you want the speech tool to do more of the editing for you. Aqua Voice’s product and plan details

If your work depends on a particular vocabulary or writing style, try those controls with your own examples. The useful comparison is how much editing each app saves you in your own work.

What does each cost?

Vokk is $1.50 billed monthly, or $12 billed annually, equivalent to $1 a month. Both plans include unlimited speech to text and use on up to three Macs. The app has a 14-day free trial; you don’t need to enter a card to start it.

A useful way to compare them

Pick something you actually need to write. An email with a person’s name, a prompt with a file path, or an instruction with an important exception.

Try both apps. Read the output. How much correction do you need? Did it preserve the details? Do you like the finished wording?

You don’t have to want the same thing I do. If Aqua saves you editing time, that’s worth considering. If you mainly want your speech turned into text and a smaller bill, give Vokk a go.

Try Vokk free for 14 days. Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 13.3 or later. See the paid plans.
